Post Facebook slammed yet again

Facebook have been slammed again, this time for refusing to remove a growing tribute to moat.
Cameron is by all accounts angered, but here's the thing and a very simple one called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
FACEBOOK is a socialising site and this is no isolated incident. I think this is a classic case of government fears about how quickly support can be gained for an indivdual such is the reach of the net. This and the speed at which information gets posted put into a political manner would make it harder for organisations if you will such as parliament to get away with what they use to.
Censorship is the governments aim, one we and sites should fight as they have no business interfering in the virtual world.

Don't get me wrong i in no way wish to glorify moats actions but do believe in the above RIGHT TO SPEECH.
Despite what i believe camerons statement on the matter paints a different story to the facts.
Moat did'nt drive around in a taxis targeting people completely unconnected, no matter his personality the ex-girlfriend did indeed lie and without doubt heavily contributed to moats hatered then actions towards the police. Finally police must except as sad as it is to say that there lives will always be in peril such is the client base they work with.
Yes Moat could have just got on with his life but the unchangable truth is he did'nt and this aside is'nt a one off and will no doubt happen again and again.

Thumbs down Double standards

One has to wonder if facebook is delibrately controlling outcomes so as to remain a nominate household name as yet again they come under fire.

FACKBOOK is back in the eye of the public as this week the site took the decision to BAN a BP boycott from its site.

What makes this hard to debate is the fact that we have to all agree a site should be allowed to make its own rules, the problem arises however when we not neccessarly agree. I've always taken the stance that subjects should be debatable via a true democratic process.
I think and feel now especially considering the two major players GOOGLE and YAHOO are buying up everything is the time for people to see how much power they do really have.

NO SITE can survive without HITS so by switching to other sites not owned by the two, revenue will drop and the grip they have with it.

What people don't seem to notice is the currency used on the net, namely you or should i say your information. This covers not just your personals but your habits and contacts. Just because a site says it won't give it out to a third party does'nt mean they won't use it themselves. Well they do and they make real money out of it.
This is'nt just the sites like FACEBOOK and YOUTUBE but the web search engines you use also.

FREE IS'NT TRUELY FREE THESE DAYS.

WITNESS HOW EVERYDAY PEOPLE BANDED TOGETHER CAN REDUCE EMPIRES

Thumbs down point of fact

In my last last post to this thread i mentioned how YAHOO and GOOGLE where racing about trying to dominate the web, well here's an instance where the two are doing just that.

http://www.pcworld.com/businesscente...hoo_japan.html

It can be argued that BING (microsoft) are trying to achieve the same end result or will if the chance arises and i can't say i would disagree but by distributing our use of search providers we could in time create a level playing field denying any the chance to control our use of the net.

A while back on the old vista mag site i mentioned how it was discovered that YAHOO and GOOGLE where heavily looking into plans to go in league with ISP's to provide an internet based package where by you could only go to what you subscribed to much like TV. Luckly ISP's at the time were'nt interested such was the hold they already had and were more than happy with.

Well it appears the two have'nt given up on it and are racing about buying all they can to influence a greater hold on the virtual world. Obviously other factors have to come into play and i'm affraid thats already well on its way too as the worlds governments seek to gain its control in the name of saving us from the terrors that lurk the net, not to mention from ourselves.

Unless users begin to learn and grow wiser the above will come to pass.
