Windows Vista users get free WiFi in the UK
Hotspot provider The Cloud gives free wireless to all Windows Vista-equipped laptops
By Jon on 30 January 2007
One of the pleasant surprises at the Windows Vista launch event was the announcement that if you buy Windows Vista, you get free Wifi. For a while, anyway. It's a partnership between Microsoft and hotspot provider The Cloud. From the first of February until the end of March, Windows Vista users will be able to browse for free at any The Cloud hotspot in the UK - that gives you free roaming in big chunks of London, Nottingham, Newcastle and dozens of other locations. (You can download a PDF listing their current hotspots.)
The news came in the middle of Cynthia Crossley's presentation and hasn't been formally confirmed yet - I hear there'll be a proper announcement soon, so I'll update this post when it arrives. The news follows a similar deal with T-Mobile in the USA - which proved rather less exclusive than planned.
