Save yourself time with this cool trick

The Preview Pane in Windows Explorer can save you stacks of time in three easy clicks
By James Stables on 13 July 2007

The great thing about Windows Vista is that the more you delve in, the more options you find which help you to work and play easier than ever before.

When navigating files in Windows Explorer, to view the content you usually have to open the file. However, using the Preview Pane in Windows Vista you can view pictures, files and even music without ever having to open the file.

What’s even better is that text files are editable from the Preview Pane meaning you can make changes, and copy or paste text from file to file without having to make a single double click.

Aside from work this has tons of practical applications, especially when trying to find a song from the mire of ‘Untitled Tracks’ which plague mix CD listeners.

Before you rush back to your PCs to explore this fantastic option, here’s how to enable it. In Windows Explorer click Organize> Layout> Preview Pane and you’re ready to go.

Thanks to the guys who run Windows Vista Team Blog for reminding us of this great feature, and loads of others in their 10 Things series.

Hi all

Yes, this is neat feature, it also works for PDF's with Adobe reader 8, and with multiple page pdf's. Doesnt seem to work with office docs though using office 2003. Presume you need latest office for it to work which is a shame. Typical MS.
